This year marks the 25th anniversary of one of the most influential theatre companies in Hungary and internationally: Maladype Theatre. Founded in the 2000/2001 season, it quickly gained international recognition and became a sought-after avant-garde creative community, whose spirit and artistic expressions embody a vision that cannot be pigeonholed into any theatrical canon. Its multifaceted creative activity is characterized by intellectual freedom, experimentation and risk-taking. The performances created under the leadership of artistic director Zoltán Balázs persistently explore the special qualities of theatre. These multidisciplinary productions, which have been met with serious acclaim and have won significant professional and public awards, have made Maladype one of the most original and high-quality companies in the Hungarian and international art scene.
